Aikido reached Iceland and was practiced by an informal group of enthusiasts for many years. The time came in January 1996 to form Aikikai Reykjavík as a sports club in the Icelandic sports federation and since then, aikido has been practiced without interruption for 30 years.
Join us in our Dojo in Reykjavík 29th January to 1st February 2026 to celebrate this momentous occasion. We will hold a seminar with excellent instructors for a weekend of pure aikido joy. After training on Saturday we are invited to the University of Iceland Japan Festival for a public introduction to the art of Aikido and demonstration. Saturday culminates in the celebration dinner.
